Roy Mosikare, a rising duathlete, is fired up for a second win in the tvgo Duathlon series in Mogale City on Sunday.
Mosikare, from Mohlakeng, won the South African Duathlon Championships in the Under-24 category in Bloemfomtein a fortnight ago.
"I have been training hard in the past few days, so far so good. The plan is to maintain the winning rhythm," said Mosikare yesterday.
"The support I have received from the community after winning my first major event in Bloemfontein two weeks ago has been phenomenal.
"The Bloemfontein victory has encouraged other black duathletes to take the sport seriously, the sport is beginning to grow in most of the black residential areas.
"I also want to help in the development of the sport at the schools, so that we can have more black youngsters participating in this noble sport.
"Like any other sportsman or woman, my dream is to become a world champion. For now, the plan is to continue training hard in order to realise that dream," he said.
Mosikare will use the series as part of his preparations for the World Duathlon Championships in Italy in September.
The trip to Italy will be Mosikare's first international competition and he is hoping to to use it to announce his arrival on the global front.
"We will be coming up against some of the best duathletes in the world, I strongly believe in myself," said Mosikare.
Besides competing in duathlon where is gradually making a name for himself, Mosikare maintains shape by taking part in cross-country activities in Mogale City.
