Masemola on Monday sent a letter to Sowetan threatening imminent legal action for defamation and loss of income.

The letter reads in part:

" We reiterate that Mr Masemola was never arrested and there could not be any records to prove the contrary.

"We demand, within 48 hours of transmission of this letter, your unequivocal front-page apology retracting from such publication, as further delay will continue to harm the business of Mr Masemola.

"We further demand payment in the sum of R1000000 for defamation resulting therefrom within seven days of receipt of this letter."
