SADC's and the AU's incapability to ensure that the elections were free and fair comes as no surprise to most of us, given that it is well known that Africa is a playground of dictatorial leadership. This could be seen by the absence of any condemnation of Mugabe at the AU summit in Egypt this week.
The only dissenting voices were those of Kenya and Botswana, who publicly condemned Mugabe from a bunch of more than 50 other African leaders.
It is pretty obvious that these leaders see nothing wrong in Mugabe's behaviour, given that they themselves have been practising the same for decades.
Even our own President Thabo Mbeki has had aspirations to run the ANC for 15 years.
Crime will never be resolved by sending a criminal to catch another criminal.
The AU should change its name to the AUD - the African Union of Dictators.
