Top soccer leader Kirsten Nematendani, pictured, has been appointed venue manager of 2010 World Cup venue Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Nematendani, who is also a member of the South African Football Association national executive committee, is scheduled to start his new job on October 1.

He is the convenor of the Safa Referees' Committee and one of the administrators tipped to take over from Molefi Oliphant when he steps down as Safa president in September 2009.

Nematendani is the first venue manager appointed by the Local Organising Committee for a venue that is not part of the 2009 Confederations Cup.

The director of sports at the University of Venda impressed Danny Jordaan, the LOC chief executive, during the interviews.

Also appointed as a venue manager of Cape Town is Teral Cullen, who is the former marketing director of Safa. The other venue managers are Mandla "Shoes" Mazibuko (Loftus) and Derek Blackensee (Ellis Park Stadium).

Interviews for Rustenburg and Bloemfontein will be completed this week.
