The Limpopo Softball Association (LSA) yesterday received a donation of office furniture from Limpopo businessman Pule Monama.

The donation of furniture worth more than R60000 was confirmed by LSA yesterday.

The donation came less than a week after LimDev, the Limpopo parastatal, pledged to continue backing the Super League of the ambitious Limpopo softball controlling body.

LimDev's contract with LSA is due to expire at the end of next season, but Stan Mathabatha, the company's managing director, last week said that they will continue to back LSA.

He also said that their sponsorship will also benefit schools in different sporting codes like netball and soccer.

"We are humbled by what our business people in Limpopo are doing in terms of promoting softball in the province," Polelo Masola, LSA's general secretary, said yesterday.

"We also urge other companies to follow suit and become part of the number one sport family in the province."

The outspoken Monama said: "This is a sport that is mainly played by the black brothers and sisters in our province and we saw fit to assist where we could and were in a position to do so.

"I plead with others in the same position as business people to assist the game."
