Metro cops are a danger to us

On June 25, I was very disturbed by the behaviour of striking Metro officers. Why on earth do I have to suffer the consequences of things that are not in my power?

When other sectors go on strike, the very same officials are there chasing them with dogs and batons.

The excuse is that their Ekurhuleni counterparts earn almost double their salaries, but they forget that they cruise in BMWs and Mercs, while their Ekurhuleni counterparts drive battered, old Mazdas.

Go ahead and do your own thing, but don't involve other people. I myself have changed jobs several times because of job dissatisfaction. So why can't you Metro officers do the same?

These people who want to be heard are also law breakers. They park facing oncoming traffic, use cellphones while driving, park on islands - the list is endless. Who are they to do so? They are not above the law. By the way, who's going to impound their vehicles when they block our roads?

I always thought that civil servants chose their careers because they wanted to serve the community, but it seems as if I was fooling myself. It seems it was actually to harm people while fighting for their salaries. Eish! niyanyanyisa maan.
