l Opposition MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai said there could be no negotiations with President Mugabe if he went ahead with a one-man election today.

l Tsvangirai said if Mugabe declared himself president and extended his 28-year rule, he would be shunned as an illegitimate leader who killed his own people.

l The US said Mugabe's government should accept the MDC's offer to talk.

l A court released MDC secretary-general Tendai Biti on bail after two weeks in jail on treason charges.

l Tsvangirai said President Thabo Mbeki should act urgently to help end the crisis in Zimbabwe. - Reuters
