The former mayor of Emfuleni in the Vaal, Dikeledi Tsotetsi, is still in the dark a month after the ANC forced her to resign from her post.

Tsotetsi said yesterday she had been sitting idle at home waiting to be redeployed - to no avail. She had also not received her latest salary.

"I am left in the dark," she said. "No one has told me where I should go after I was forced to resign. I have not received a cent this month."

The ANC regional executive committee dismissed Tsotetsi on the grounds of incompetence.

Announcing her dismissal last month, regional chairman, Simon Mofokeng, said Tsotetsi "would be redeployed elsewhere in Emfuleni".

Mofokeng accused Tsotetsi's leadership of not taking the council anywhere.

Her resignation came amid an investigation into corrupt council officials, which she had initiated with council manager Manana Bakane-Tuoane, who had since been suspended.

Municipal spokesman Paseka Rakosa said they would investigate why Tsotetsi had not received her salary.
