About 100 ANCYL members protested outside the Gauteng premier's office yesterday.
The league's Gauteng secretary, Thabo Kupa, said they wanted to shed light on the plight of the youth and to get government to provide jobs and skills for young people.
He said a memorandum would also be sent to the SA Local Government Association (Salga, Gauteng), Gauteng government and 2010 Local Organising Committee.
Kupa said: "Our demands are not much and we will give them until the end of the year to respond."
Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa was not there to receive the memorandum because he is out of the country.
The protesters' placards read: "Young people deserve better," and "Say yes to jobs for young people".
"Gauteng's youth is experiencing a number of challenges, particularly with regards to accessing economic opportunities, employment and skills development," Kupa said.
The league wants Salga and the Gauteng government to have preferential programmes, including quotas for youths, that will result in more of them getting jobs and skills
