Julio Cesar Leal has landed in the Birds' nest. It's a good sign that the maroon-blooded people could be in for the good times.

Some of the die-hard Swallows supporters are cautious. Who can blame them, given every off-season officials promise to "win some silverware for supporters" and the promises end up being hot air.

I am also worried that Leal's tenure as Swallows coach might not be successful if the current technical set-up remains as it is.

Gavin Hunt and Ian Gorowa failed because of lack of proper technical support systems. Hunt was everything - head coach, technical manager, talent scout, paymaster . Gorowa was just a buffoon. I would like to urge the managementof Moroka Swallows FC to please create a conducive environment for Leal to succeed.

This can be done by removing all the people who were part of the Gorowa technical team, hiring a knowledgeable technical team manager, choosing assistants from among former Swallows greats with technical acumen, not making Swallows a retirement home and a scrapyard for rejects from Chiefs and Pirates, and buying quality players.
