Time for change at Safa

Talking about Bafana Bafana these days is just a painful reminder of a situation that has gone from bad to nearly beyond repair.

Talking about Bafana Bafana these days is just a painful reminder of a situation that has gone from bad to nearly beyond repair.

For a long time we voiced our concerns and suggestions about the matter throughout all the possible communication media and it may look like we have reached a dead end.

Since Molefi Oliphant took over Safa our national teams have not been performing. Honestly speaking we are tired of the underachieving national football team of South Africa [Bafana].

The team has been run by a cabal with no hint of national pride. South Africa is a country of gifted football players and we won't accept the fact that we are underachievers.

The chief culprits are sitting at Safa House and really we don't need the mediocrity that Joel Santana, Jairo Leal, Pitso Mosimane, Oliphant, Raymond Hack and co are feeding us.

We need real inspiring leaders at Safa, with vision, ambition and good decision-making.

Right now we are found wanting. For the first time in 12 years we are out of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament and since Oliphant took over our football the standard at national level has been on a downward spiral.

Hiring Santana the novice was high treason committed by Safa and we can't find a place in our heart to forgive them. This has become a habit and we want nothing but Safa and their technical team to resign, en mass.

They must stop bragging about how much sponsorships they have secured - rather focus on getting the product on the field right.

Time for change was about three years ago - we have wasted the last three years bragging about hosting 2010 and trying to find ways to make money out of it, instead of getting our game and our players right.

This time we will make sure that we are counted among any million-man march for Safa officials' removal. We need change - fruitful change we can believe in.
