Out of Africa, an event that is set to expose South Africans to a genuine experience of African culture and heritage, will take place at The Brightwater Common in Randburg, Johannesburg, on Saturday and Sunday.

The show starts at 11am until 5pm. It will feature an array of exhibitions as well as an exciting entertainment programme.

The colourful variety will range from hand-carved ornaments, paintings, skins and shields to baskets, bags, beads and jewels have exhibitors dressed in traditional attire, showing how the displayed items are made. Visitors can also sample the various traditional African cuisine.

Susan Kie, the event's publicist says: "Stepping onto the grassy commons, one will discover the richness and diversity of Africa through exhibitors representing various countries on the African continent. While some will showcase traditional art and craft items typical of their countries, others will display clothing and accessories."

Artists such as the Soweto String Quartet and gumboot dancers will perform.

Sunday will feature a marimba band, Moyo face-painting as well as a fashion show of African attire.

To wrap-up the event, renowned singer Abigail Kubeka will perform.
