The projects include Cosmo City, Chief Albert Luthuli, K206, Kagiso Azaadville, Nelmapious, Olivenhoutbosch, Thorntree View and Nelmapius, Chief Mogale and Middlevlei.
Recently, the department launched Lufhereng, formerly known as Doornkop. It will become one of the biggest housing projects, yielding 24000 mixed-housing units.
Through these projects, the government will be able to realise its objective of creating jobs as well as de-racialising human settlements and create those that will accommodate all, irrespective of background, financial status or social standing.
The programme, being delivered in partnership with the private sector, will also provide commercial and social amenities.
The objective is to create integrated communities and do away with the old apartheid system of spatial developments where people where segregated according to colour and wealth.
Housing MEC Nomvula Mokonyane said: "This programme will ensure that we realise our objective of making housing accessible to all."
