Mandela gears up for London birthday bash

Former president Nelson Mandela is expected to meet world superstars, the British queen and world leaders before settling down to party at his 90th birthday bash on Friday.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation office in London said yesterday that Mandela was happy and looking forward to the party. His 46664 birthday concert takes place at London's Hyde Park. Mandela arrived in London on Monday and is scheduled to meet Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former US president Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.

Some of the artists who will feature at the concert are Leona Lewis, Annie Lennox, Queen, Paul Rodgers, Simple Minds, Shirley Bassey, Joan Baez, The Sugababes, Razorlight, Eddy Grant, Jamelia, Andrea and Sharon Corr.

Also featuring will be African stars Johnny Clegg, Sipho Mabuse, Papa Wemba and the Soweto Gospel Choir.
