Fans of gospel music in Durban are in for great fun this coming weekend as some of the country's leading musicians in the genre will take to the stage.

The Cell C Gospel Festival will take place at Juventus, Durban, on Saturday and the line-up is quite interesting.

As usual, the gig opens with some of the country's award-winning gospel heavyweights such as the Queen of Gospel Rebecca Malope, pictured, the ever impressive Hlengiwe, the highly revered Sipho Makhabane and this year's double Sama-winners, Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors.

There will also be a chance for local talent to shine alongside the greats.

"Spreading the Lord's message has always been a passion for me. Finding Cell C - an organisation that is willing to support the spreading of the Lord's message is even more phenomenal. It is always great to get together for worshiping and praise with different artists and fans from all over South Africa," said Malope.

"The idea of the Cell C Gospel Festivals has been to create a day where families can come and experience Gospel music together. We've deliberately kept the hours of each show during the day, to enable children to be with their parents and prices low to give everyone a chance to experience the great home-grown Gospel music on offer."

"We are thrilled to be able to showcase gospel music, which remains beloved by so many South Africans of all ages, and across all cultural backgrounds. What's more, by pairing upcoming and locally based artists with superstars like Rebecca Malope and Hlengiwe, the Cell C Gospel Festivals offer a great platform for the country's extensive gospel talent to be showcased," says Simon Camerer, executive head of marketing, at Cell C. This year Cell C won the Strategic Sponsorship category award at the annual Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) Awards in May this year for this annual gospel festival.
