Four young technicians, lighting designers and stage managers will be off to Denmark tomorrow to hone their skills there.

The students will spend two weeks in on-the-job training. They are currently enrolled at the SA Roadies Association (Sara) school in Johannesburg.

The famous Roskilde Festival will host them as part of its technical skills enhancement project with Sara.

The four are Lerato Mokoena, 25, of Sharon Park, Ekurhuleni; Kedibone Mabale, 25, of Ruimsig, Roodepoort; Sibusiso Mathebula, 19, of Orlando West, Soweto, and Naledi Makhetha, 27, of Orlando East, Soweto. They have been selected for their excellent work in the Sara training programmes.

The highlight of this experience is the Roskilde Festival, which is one of the largest North European music festivals, with seven stages and more than 150 bands performing with an expected attendance of about 100000 people.

The four will have an intensive 13-day working experience, gaining technical training from some of the best craftsmen in the world to acquire top-notch skills development in sound, lighting, staging and live production techniques.
