Malema has brought great shame to the ANCYL. His kind of thinking has caused major devastation in Africa. Dictators such as Sunny Abacha, Idi Amin, Charles Taylor and, more recently, Robert Mugabe have shown us what happens to nations when their leaders behave in this manner.
South Africa has been tremendously blessed with the manner in which its leaders handled transition and change. In 1994 many were expecting a blood bath, but we showed the world a model transition.
Again we are on the brink of a transition and it is tough times like these that call for maturity. The ANCYL has come a long way as a nucleus of the ANC.
Now Malema says he did not mean what he said, but is still not willing to show remorse for his immaturity.
The youth league should be training future leaders, not focusing on irrelevant issues that don't benefit the nation. This nation does not need people who rally around Zuma, but people who have the country's best interest at heart.
If this is the calibre of future ANC leaders, we have every reason to be scared.
