My ex is spreading HIV around

My boyfriend of six years tested HIV-positive two years ago. I was tested too and I am also HIV-positive.

My boyfriend of six years tested HIV-positive two years ago. I was tested too and I am also HIV-positive.

We broke up four months after our tests, but remain quite good friends. I have not been sexually active since we broke up, but he has had a few girlfriends. He said he practises safe sex, so I wasn't worried.

Recently I met his current girlfriend and somehow the topic of sex came up. I told her I was HIV-positive and she asked who I had got it from? I told her. She was shocked. She was frightened out of her wits because she said he does not use a condom. She said they only used condoms for the first few months.

She told him about our conversation. He freaked out and told me to mind my own business. I told him sex without a condom for him was like murder. He shouted and told me to keep my nose out of his affairs.

I am worried that he may have infected other women. Should I tell them? What should I do?

Worried, Johannesburg

Sister, tell him that he has one week to contact all the women he has slept with.

Tell him if he doesn't, you will. If he doesn't, please do not delay contacting them. It is essential that they be tested as soon as possible.

Do it sister. Wouldn't you have appreciated it if someone had told you about him?
