The 16 Premiership and 16 First Division clubs are smiling all the way to the bank after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) decided to splash out R36,8 million on bonuses.
Each Premiership club has been presented with R2 million, while those in the First Division League got R300 000.
For those campaigning in the Premiership, the ex gratia payment is twice the monthly grant of R1 million given to them by the league.
As for the First Division clubs, they get a monthly grant of R150000 to help them cope with some of the financial challenges during the season.
Irvin Khoza, the league's chairman, said: "We have decided to give our clubs ex gratia payments over and above the monthly grants that they are getting.
"It will help our clubs to strengthen their playing personnel, including assisting clubs like the relegated Jomo Cosmos for a soft landing in the First Division. The money will also help the clubs meet some of their financial challenges. The best part of it is that they did not expect it."
Khulu Sibiya, SuperSport United chairman, said: "It's good for the clubs and the development of football; we are happy.
"This will go a long way in assisting to pay the salaries of the players and smooth running of the clubs. Football should also improve with more money coming in."
Pat Malabela, chairman of First Division outfit Dynamos, praised Khoza and his executive committee for the payment.
"I went to a meeting in Johannesburg on Tuesday, I did not even expect that there will be such a lot of money given to the clubs,' he said.
"What Dr Khoza and the executive have done is appreciated. It will come in handy for us in the playoffs, which were delayed for almost 10 weeks."
Senzo Mazingisa, Bay United general manager, said: "As a result of the delay in the playoffs, we now have incurred extra costs. The money will help us a lot."
Mike Mokoena, Free State Stars' chairman, said he would use every cent received from the PSL this week for the recruitment of players.
"It's a big relief for me. Some of us do not have a sponsorship. The money will help us sign a few youngsters to beef up the team.
"It [the money] was not in our plans; it's a memorable way of ending the season. Well done to Dr Khoza and the executive committee."
