Education will temporarily take a back seat as 22 schools in Meadowlands battle it out in the Fiat Soweto Schools Games at the local Fiat Sports Centre today, starting from 8.30am.

Eight high schools will compete in volleyball, netball, basketball and soccer while 14 primary schools take part in track and field. The yearly event was launched yesterday in Meadowlands and the finals will be played tomorrow at the same venue.

All participating teams will get full kits in all sporting codes and more than 1700 athletes will receive participating certificates. Winners will get trophies and medals.
