An ANC ward councillor in Limpopo was forced to resign from a school governing body (SGB) after he allegedly solicited a R2000 bribe from a teacher after he (teacher) got a permanent job.

Blouberg Municipality's full-time councillor, Seleka Donald Ratladi, who also serves as a member of the executive committee for Malusi Secondary School's SGB, was sacked from the SGB after the teacher reported him to the school.

"The teacher told management that Ratladi had told him that he had 'fought very hard' for him to be appointed. He claimed that had it not been for his powers as a ward councillor, the teacher would still be on the street," said Sanco co-ordinator in the area, Phophi Raletjenas.
