After touring Maseru for a week, Amajita will be back in action next Friday where they take on Reunion at Caledonian Stadium, Pretoria.

This will be the start of their 2009 African Youth Championships qualifiers where the main prize is a place in the finals in Rwanda.

Serame "Rhee" Letsoaka, coach of the South African under-20 team, is satisfied with their final preparations for the qualifiers.

Amajita played drew with Lesotho last Wednesday night and went on to win the second match 2-0 on Sunday.

Letsoaka also confirmed the appointment of defender Ramahlwe Mphlahlele as captain of Amajita for the qualifiers.

"Ramahlwe is the leader of this new team, he will be deputised by Thulani Hlatshwayo," said Letsoaka yesterday.

Hlatshwayo plays for Ajax Cape Town.

Mphlahlele, who plays for Moroka Swallows, is one of the latest recruits in Amajita after graduating from Majimbos, where he served as captain.

"We are on track with Amajita in terms of their preparations for the qualifiers," said Stanley "Screamer" Tshabalala, head of Safa junior national teams.

"I was impressed with the commitment of the boys when we played in Maseru.

"Serame and his team are doing well in assembling a formidable squad for the qualifiers."

Letsoaka said they were confident of emulating the success of the Class of 1996 by qualifying for the African Youth Champions and World Youth Championships.

The Class of 1996 had included players like Steve "Chippa" Lekoelea, Stanton "Stiga" Fredericks and Thiyekilwe Gulwa, with Shakes Mashaba as coach.

Some of the youngsters in the new Amajita squad include Tlou Molekwane, Vumile Nxako, Tsepo Gumede, Daylon Classen, Mandla Masango, Thulani Serero, Philane Khwela, Thulani Ngcepe and Doctor Skosana.
