It took 13 years, but the police finally caught up with one of their "most wanted suspects" - on June 13 - after a tip-off.

Free State police sergeant Mmako Mophiring said the man, sought for housebreaking and theft, was arrested in the small Free State town of Paul Roux last Friday.

Mophiring said information on the man from the community at Fatseng-Tse-Ntsho near Paul Roux, and his fingerprints, had finally nailed him.

"He allegedly committed the crimes in 1995 and fled Paul Roux," he said.

The arrest was made during a crime prevention operation in the eastern Free State. A total of 68 arrests were made during the blitz. - Sapa
