North West Premier Edna Molewa yesterday led a delegation that flew to Lusaka to bring home the remains of an Umkhonto we Sizwe cadre who was assassinated in Swaziland and buried in Zambia 21 years ago.

Job Tabane, known by his nom de guerre Cassius Maake, will be reburied on Saturday June 28 at Mosenthal, near Rustenburg.

Provincial spokesman Cornelius Monama said the delegation to Lusaka comprised, among others, family members, Molewa, Job Tabane reburial committee chairman Pitso Tolo and MEC for social development Nikiwe Mangco.

Tabane skipped the country in 1964 through Botswana to join the liberation movement in exile. He was assassinated with his comrade Peter Sello Motau in Swaziland on July 9 1987.

He was born on December 6 1942 in Maile village, Diepkuil, outside Rustenburg. Monama said the reburial would be "a fitting tribute to a life dedicated to freedom, justice and service".
