I'm a young, black South African and my family has lived in the predominantly white neighbourhood of Northmead, Benoni, for 13 years.

We have experienced minor racial attacks. About two months ago bricks were thrown at our car and then at the windows of our home.

During the recent xenophobic attacks our cars were stoned and gunshots fired. We got poor service from 10111. It is a nightmare living at home. The look of fear in my parents and younger siblings' eyes worry me.

We recently discovered that we are not the only black family affected. Another family has experienced the same attacks at the same time and yet the police have done nothing.
