Another war of exhaustion featuring fighters from Limpopo, who are trained in Gauteng by Nick Durandt and Rob MacLeod for a South African title, is taking place this Friday night.
Vincent Vuma and Alvin Mahonisi will battle it out for the former's national junior middleweight strap.
It will be staged at the Carousel Casino in Hammanskraal by Branco Milenkovic's Branco Sports Production.
Two weeks ago Durandt's and MacLeod's charges from that part of the country, Peter Mashamaite and Khaphathe Mphambanyeni, fought a bloody sore fight for the vacant SA middleweight belt.
Whatever differences Mashamaite and Mphambanyeni had back home they should have been sorted out in a better way than through such a gruelling fight, which was ultimately won by Mashamaite in round seven.
Now Milenkovic has pitted Vuma and Mahonisi. They will fight at the venue which was popularised by Vuyani "The Beast" Bungu during his heydays as the IBF junior featherweight's longest reigning king.
Vuma is a seasoned campaigner, a warrior who has been to wars here and abroad, while Mahonisi is younger and probably the hungrier.
Vuma has defended four times. Vuma, who also holds the World Boxing Federation (WBC) international belt, last fought in November when he defended the WBC belt against Raul Eduardo Bejarano at Wembley Arena in Johannesburg.
Mahonisi gets a second chance to show his mettle after failing to win the national junior welterweight belt from Sam Malinga in 2005.
An average fighter, Mahonisi, who boasts 13 wins (seven KOs), five losses and a draw, has not fought since February last year when he outpointed Lucas Mogane over eight rounds.
The Vuma-Mahonisi fight will be televised live on SABC2's Blow by Blow.
