Limpopo-based Eric Neluheni is back in big-time soccer after he was appointed the 2010 World Cup venue medical officer for Polokwane.
Neluheni was the first medical doctor of Premiership outfit Orlando Pirates.
He was one of the 10 venue medical officers unveiled by the Local Organising Committee at a media briefing at Safa House yesterday.
The announcement was made by LOC chief medical officer, Victor Ramathesele, in the presence of top soccer administrators Danny Jordaan and Raymond Hack.
Mmuso Ramantsi, a former Jomo Cosmos and Amajita doctor, will be in charge of the affairs at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng.
Maki Ramagola, the doctor of Banyana Banyana, has been appointed to lead the medical affairs at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Others are Demetri Constatinou (Ellis Park), Efraim Kramer (Soccer City), Louis Holtzhausen (Mangaung), Christa Janse van Rensburg (Tshwane) and Mzukisi Grootboom (Durban).
Also announced at the briefing was the LOC's medical advisory board, which will be chaired by Martin Schwellnus, head of the Sports Science Institute.
Other medicos serving on the board are Sam Mokgokong, Mike Lambert, Piet van der Merwe, Tim Noakes, Kramer, Khalid Galant and Bongani Mayosi.
Peter Fuhri, head of the 2010 World Cup unit at the national department of health, and Ramathesele are also on the board.
