UTI Sun Couriers sets up shop at Coega

The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) signed its 14th investor, UTI Sun Couriers, to the Coega Industrial Development Zone yesterday.

The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) signed its 14th investor, UTI Sun Couriers, to the Coega Industrial Development Zone yesterday.

But UTI Sun Couriers is only the fifth company, of all the confirmed investors, to physically commence operations in the zone.

The logistics company moved into a speculatively built warehouse in the zone's automotive cluster at the beginning of the month. CDC Business Development Manager, Gustav Meyer, says the warehouse was leased to UTI only two months after its completion.

UTI manager, Jenny Hayes said: "The company chose to operate from the new industrial area because of the high quality of infrastructure and the close business relationships it has built up over time with the CDC.

"The warehouse is situated on a prime piece of real estate, directly next to the N2 out of Port Elizabeth. This location will give us excellent exposure and great advertising at no additional costs," said Hayes.

UTI specialises in the movement of envelopes, parcels and freight throughout South Africa.

The warehouses are being constructed in anticipation of high demand due to the number of signed investors and the opening of the Port of Ngqura next year. - Staff Reporter
