Safa Limpopo is excited that they will host the national indoor soccer championship next month.

The association's provincial president, Nakedi "N1" Lekota, said the move will augment their soccer development programme in the province.

"We thank Safa national for offering us the opportunity to host an event of this magnitude. We will take it from were we left during the hosting of the Metropolitan national U-19 championship in April," Lekota told Sowetan.

"We are confident that the standard will be higher. All our systems are ready to host the tournament."

Morio Sanyane, Safa's spokesman, said they have allowed Limpopo to host the third edition of the tournament that will be held from July 2 to 6, at a venue still to be confirmed.

"We are convinced that the province will host the tournament well, as they did during the recent Metropolitan national U-19 championship at Seshego stadium," Sanyane said.

"We resolved to give them the benefit of doubt and we will support them throughout."

The provincial department of sport, arts and culture has also made a commitment to assist Safa to ensure the tournament is a success.

"Despite our little budget, we are prepared to assist them with any kind of assistance, even if it might not be in the form of money. We will always support all the sports federations in the province," Adel van der Linde, department spokesman, said.
