A family Ford that gives you really good Focus

The Ford Focus is widely respected for the all-round package it offers.

There are many middle-sized family sedans on the market but the Focus is head and shoulders above most - if not all - of them.

Our used test car this week comes in the form of a 2005 Ford Focus 2,0-litre automatic.

What we like most about it is that it is value for money. You get a solid car at a good price. What is even better is that the contemporary design of the Focus makes it slot easily into the future.

The sedan version of the Focus is in some ways even more practical than its hatch sibling.

Apart from our Focus being sold at such a good price, it has only done 25000km. Its good overall condition is proof of its low mileage.

The Focus is also one of the few cars in its class that offer plenty of practicality - such as providing sufficient cabin space and plenty of legroom.

The four-cylinder 2,0-litre engine delivers 107kW and 185Nm and is mated to a smooth four-speed automatic gearbox that delivers smooth power to the front wheels.

There is also enough power for overtaking when necessary - and for comfortably cruising on the freeway. Its breath only runs out at around 200kmh.

As an everyday car to get to work or fetch the kids from school the Focus is ideal.

Our test model came equipped with CD-player, airbags, ABS-brakes, aircon, electric windows and power steering.
