Tourist trouble

Something is going desperately wrong at our airports and, as usual, everyone involved is pointing fingers elsewhere.

Now at least the cops are arresting gangs that rip off passengers arriving from overseas. For years they and the airports authority denied that passengers were being targeted.

Public Enterprises Minister Alec Irwin told the DA last week that about 37000 SAA passengers face having their luggage stolen this year.

The airline had earlier said "only" 6600 passengers' luggage was stolen each year.

Does anyone realise we will have to sort this out before the World Cup in 2010?
