Tansey Coetzee sets her sights on Miss Universe
Reigning Miss South Africa Tansey Coetzee will soon jet off to Nha Trang, Vietnam, to represent South Africa at the 57th Miss Universe competition.
The prestigious event will be held on July 13 in the Crown Convention Centre at the Diamond Bay Resort in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
Next Tuesday Coetzee will arrive in Vietnam for a month of activities and sightseeing before the event.
Contestants from more than 80 countries around the world will be judged in three categories- swimsuit, evening gown and interview - as they contend for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2008.
An exhilarated Coetzee said she was "very happy to participate in Miss Universe".
"It is the chance of a lifetime," she said. "If I win many doors will open for me.
"The thought of meeting other contestants from around the world is even more exciting."
The winner of Miss Universe 2008 also gets to star in the reality show Pageant Place, which stars the reigning Miss Universe, Japanese native Riyo Mori.
"Maybe I'll get to live in the Trump Tower in New York and feature in the MTV show. All I can say is, wow!"
The pageant began in 1952 as a bathing beauty competition for locals in Long Beach, California, and has grown to be a showcase that spotlights the world's most beautiful women.
