The South African Tennis Association has selected one of the strongest squads to take on Denmark in the Davis Cup tie next month.

The team that will be captained by John Laffnie de Jagger is determined to romp home in style in this event.

The tournament, to be played at Emperors Palace for the first time, runs from July 18 to 20.

An optimistic De Jagger, who is in a hurry to see the local side triumphing over the Danes.

"We are looking forward to playing at Emperors Palace and hope to give Madiba a nice birthday present," said De Jagger.

"It is always great to be able to pick your best team, and the players we selected are in great form and exceptionally good. I don't think they will let the country down," he said.

The squad is made up of Kevin Anderson, Rik de Voest, Jeff Coetzee, Wesley Moodie and Izak van der Merwe.

De Jagger said Anderson has performed well, having reached two finals and beaten world No 3 Novak Djokavic.

Though he went down to Canadian Frank Dancevic in the final of the Surbiton Challenger, Anderson climbed to 95 in the world rankings after that event.

He said De Voest was in great shape when he played at a challenger at Prostejov in the Czech Republic on clay, beating Dominic Hrbaty in the first round before losing to eighth seed Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil.

De Jagger said the inclusion of Van der Merwe will be part of his team's backup.
