The idea of a Honda Accord painted in dazzling white took a while to sink in.
Launched in KwaZulu-Natal last week, this is the first time in the history of this particular model in South Africa that it has been seen in this colour.
Not that white paint will make the car perform any less better.
The Honda Accord was first launched onto the world market in 1976 and this is its eighth-generation model. However, the Accord was first introduced to South Africa in 2002.
Since then, it has gained in popularity and is regarded as one of the best-looking luxury cars around.
According to Honda SA, the Accord is positioned as an "alternative" in the D-segment.
This highly contested segment features the likes of the Lexus IS250, the Audi A4 and the BMW 320.
The new Accord was launched in two engine derivatives, the 2,0-litre petrol and the 2,4-litre. Both derivatives are available in manual and automatic.
The Japanese creation is larger, wider and lower.
While it is the largest, widest and most luxurious Accord ever, it is also 20percent stiffer than before: this was achieved by the use of advanced body construction that uses ultra high-tensile steel. The front features a bold grille that exudes a powerful presence.
The interior is even more appealing and luxurious than before. The use of materials and finishes beautifully complement the exterior.
On the road, both engines did not disappoint. The Accord's handling is one of the best in the segment, making cornering twisting roads an easy task.
The 2-0-litre i-VTEC engine produces power output of 115kW and torque stands at 192Nm.
The 2,4-litre i-VTEC produces 148kW of power, while torque stands at 234Nm.
This is quite enough to achieve a top speed of 215km/h.
Pricing starts from R237500 up to R293000.
