Ukhozi FM turns 50 in 2010, the same year South Africa hosts the soccer World Cup.

Station manager Welcome "Bhodloza" Nzimande says during the soccer event the station will gain more listeners - people who don't speak isiZulu will be listening to the continent's biggest station.

To stay in touch with the latest trends, the station unveiled its new beaded logo and introduced its young presenters at a star-studded ceremony at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convection Centre in Durban on Friday night.

Among the guests was King Edward Masinga, the man who played a significant role in the growth of Radio Bantu, which later became Radio Zulu in the 70s. In October 1996 the station changed its name to Ukhozi FM.

Nzimande said the station was positioning itself to attract even more listeners.
