Autumn is clearly here - the gorgeous reds, oranges and yellows of the season are evident everywhere, as are the many leaves lying on the ground.

Why do some trees lose their leaves? As trees approach the most difficult part of the year - winter - they lose their leaves to reduce the amount of water they need.
