Give foreigners safe places

The reason for the xenophobic attacks is trickling through, as our "leaders" also acknowledge it, so what are we to do as a nation?

The reason for the xenophobic attacks is trickling through, as our "leaders" also acknowledge it, so what are we to do as a nation?

Do we punish the attackers harshly or do we remove foreigners from these communities?

This does not mean we are chasing them away, but it would give the government a better way of managing service delivery since they would know the exact number of people in an area.

The government should also take drastic steps against Home Affairs for the fraudulent "legal immigrants", whether they are "married" to South Africans or they bought their status from the department's spazas.

If the Department of Transport could fish out fraudulent drivers' licences, I think Home Affairs can do the same.

This is not really about hating fellow Africans but the fear of losing our identity as poor South Africans. Violence is barbaric and unacceptable but our leaders should show leadership and not hide behind rhetoric and intimidation.

People want to hear someone saying we understand and we will remove these people from your communities and house them in a place where they will be safe.

Look at the plight of poor South Africans from other provinces who look for a better life in Gauteng, only to find it harder because of the rapid growth of illegal immigrants.
