While a number of players are leaving the sunken Jomo Cosmos ship for greener pastures, the boss' son, Bamuza Sono, finds himself between a rock and a hard place.
Bamuza is a wanted man but has a very unusual problem. How does he desert his father's club during its time of need, and while some of his teammates are getting ready for the fightback?
"It's not an easy decision for me," he told Sowetan yesterday.
"For now I am staying with Cosmos. I have had approaches but it's not something I can decide overnight. There are a lot of factors coming into it and I will need to consult a number of people before I make a final decision."
Ezenkosi chairman and coach, Jomo Sono, announced that Namibian international left-back Sydney Plaatjie and mercurial winger Dikgang Mabalane are joining Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Tshwane outfit seems to be the major beneficiary of Cosmos' relegation to the First Division just as Orlando Pirates were when Sono's team was in the same situation in 1993.
Jomo added that Burundian international defender Valery Nahayo is headed overseas for trials. If he is unsuccessful he will also join his teammates at the Brazilians.
Liberian winger-cum-striker Anthony Laffor had also been earmarked for Sundowns before he signed a pre-contract with their neighbours SuperSport United.
Laffor is set to be joined by former teammate Morgan Gould at Matsatsantsa a Pitori.
Said Mabalane: "As long as my agent is involved and the deal is good for me, I don't have a problem with it."
Bamuza pointed out that he knows of interest from Moroka Swallows but little else outside of a possible move to Israel, which he has also put on hold because of the new developments at the club.
Midfield workhorse Reneilwe Letsholonyane is rumoured to be headed to Kaizer Chiefs. He will be out of contract at the end of June. Jomo could not confirm this.
He said he is looking at ways to cut costs because relegation also meant the loss of the Bonitas sponsorship. He has promised that players' salaries would not change.
