The Johannesburg high court yesterday gave former Lesedi FM presenter Thuso Motaung total access to his millions.

His lawyer, Zola Majavu, said Motaung was free to access his bank accounts, investments and his interests in other companies.

When Sowetan contacted him for comment, Motaung rushed to a nearby ATM where he tried to withdraw cash.

"I rushed to the ATM but the transaction was refused. How long do I have to wait to get my money?" Motaung asked.

After two years without an income, Motaung is so broke he could think about nothing but the cash.

Majavu could not say how much the accounts were worth, but said they were worth several millions of rands.

"The court overturned the judgment in terms of which Motaung's assets were seized," Majavu said.

His assets, worth R15 million, were attached by the Asset Forfeiture Unit in March last year after Motaung, his wife Mamontha and business partner Joshua Ramme were accused of defrauding the SABC of R34 million in airtime sales between 2004 and 2006.

The three were acquitted in the Johannesburg commercial crimes court last month. Property estimated to be worth R8 million - including five luxury cars, furniture and three houses - was returned after the acquittal.

Motaung said he was more than happy.

"I was crawling and living on hand-outs, now I will be able to look after my family and get my life back.

"I thank God for this," Motaung said.

He had demanded that the Asset Forfeiture Unit return his money - with interest.

Motaung said either he or Majavu had to sign the release order before he could have full access to his accounts.

"I can safely say that the process will take about a week and then I will be able to access all my money.

"I am very happy that things are changing for the better."
