Many people wouldn't know, but had Kirk Franklin had his wish Vuyo Mokoena would have worked with him and maybe become an international star.

Mokoena refused Franklin's offer because he wanted to "plant the seed of his talent at home". This is one reason why I've always admired him.

Every time I heard the man sing I could sense that he was playful, serious and loved what he was doing. That was why he produced good work.

I find it difficult that the man is no more. Perhaps his latest album had been a premonition that he was going to depart this world.

In many of the songs he sings more seriously as never before.

Khomelela a Tsonga speaks about holding on in pain and walking in the light of God and I can imagine what went through his mind when he wrote the song.

To the entire gospel music fraternity, Mokoena's family and music fans, ee go bohloko. One of the special ones among us is gone but a wellknown verse in the Bible is John 14:1: "Don't let your hearts be burdened, trust in Christ and God."

Vuyisile Templeton Mokoena, may your soul rest in peace. Ziyo hamba insizwaa ziyo sala izibongo.
