Mandla "Shoes" Mazibuko, Bafana Bafana head of delegation, is the latest prominent soccer administrator to join the 2010 World Cup Local Organising Committee.

Sowetan has learnt that Mazibuko has been employed by the LOC as a venue manager of Loftus Stadium in Tshwane.

Mazibuko joined the LOC after quitting his job at the Gauteng provincial government where he was the 2010 World Cup deputy director-general.

He signed the contract with the LOC on Friday, though he has been busy familiarising himself with the structures since the beginning of the month.

Mazibuko is also a member of the South African Football Association (Safa) national executive committee and chairman of the competitions committee.

He is president of the South African Schools Football Association, which is responsible for all the school soccer activities in the country.

Also joining the LOC is former Safa executive member Derek Blackensee, who will be a venue manager at Ellis Park Stadium.

Blackensee joined the LOC after resigning as chief executive of Premiership side Bidvest Wits two weeks ago.

The venue managers will be responsible for the coordination of all the activities of the match venues, in the 2009 Confederations Cup and World Cup.

The LOC has started the process by appointing recruiting venue managers of the five facilities that will host the Confederations Cup.

With the managers for Ellis Park and Loftus appointed, an announcement is expected in the next few days regarding Royal Bafokeng, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth stadiums.

Danny Jordaan, the LOC's chief executive, could not be reached for comment regarding the appointment of venue managers.

Jordaan is in Australia for the Fifa congress.
