The 2010 World Cup Local Organising Committee is sending 12 project managers to the Euro Cup in Austria and Switzerland next month.

The 2010 World Cup Local Organising Committee is sending 12 project managers to the Euro Cup in Austria and Switzerland next month.

According to the LOC, the project managers will be at Europe's continental soccer showpiece on a learning curve for the 2009 Confederations Cup and World Cup.

This is part of an ongoing plan by the LOC to send senior and junior staff members to various major competitions. The objective is for the LOC representatives to have an idea of how other organisations prepare for big tournaments.

Some of the project managers who will watch the tournament include former Bafana Bafana doctor Victor Ramathesele, Lesley Sedibe and Onke Mjo.

Ramathesele is from the LOC's chief medical and health department, Mjo from the volunteer programme, while Sedibe is from ticketing.

Also going to Europe are Amanda Nair (host city coordination), Tim Cook (trip coordination), Jermaine Craig (media), Robert Kempson (broadcasting), Goran Hovick (media), Steve Pila (competitions), Mlungisi Nceme (security) and Mohamed Hafejee (accreditation).

Dennis Mumble, the chief competitions officer of the LOC, said their staff will be in Austria and Switzerland to observe the coordination of the Euro Cup.

At the beginning of this year, several LOC staff members and top South African Football Association officials were at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana as observers. The LOC will also be sending some of its people to the Beijing Olympics in China in August, the 2009 World Under-17 Championship in Nigeria and 2009 World Youth Championships in Egypt.
