Masizakhe High School are the champions of the Kay Motsepe Cup in the Gert Sibande region in Mpumalanga.

The Breyten-based institution defeated Ndlela High School 1-0 at Ermelo Swanepoel stadium on Saturday.

Lucky Julius scored the solitary goal that gave Masizakhe a berth in the Mpumalanga regional playoffs, which are set for Saturday at Mhluzi Stadium in Middelburg.

Gedlembane High School from Pienaar will represent Ehlanzeni while in Enkangala the school will be determined today. This was after the final between Sozama High School and Kriel Secondary School was postponed because it was dark and the field has no floodlights.

The winner of the regional playoffs will represent the province in the national playoffs expected to be staged between July 9-12 at a venue still to be decided.

Lucky Mtsweni, Masizakhe coach, said though they will have short time to prepare for the regional playoffs, he is optimistic that his boys will triumph.
