I want to date but I'm scared

I am aged 34 and got divorced 14 months ago after 10 years of marriage.

I have a child aged eight. My ex-husband is very supportive in terms of maintenance and child care. Our daughter spends Wednesday nights and every second weekend with him.

I now have time for myself and think I'm ready to date.

The thing is, I am absolutely terrified. I haven't been on a date for more than a decade and I have no idea howto meet men or how to behave on a date. Any advice?

Sister, dating is a daunting prospect, especially if you have been out of circulation.

Your ex sounds like a dream, so I presume you don't have any healing to do.

As far as meeting anyone is concerned, start socialising and going out with friends to parties, movies, picnics, pubs, whatever.

There is also the option of Internet dating, but go cautiously here.

Nonpersonal contact connections can be dangerous because dishonest people know that it is all smoke and mirrors and you are unlikely to see through the nonsense until you meet eye-to-eye.

When it comes to dating, remember that you should not be intimidated or nervous because this is also a date for your partner.

Be yourself and encourage him to do the same. Relax, have fun, and enjoy the attention and interest.

When talking, find out what interests him and listen. Don't dominate the conversation but don't sit there like a fool.

If he is boring, try to change the topic. Don't go on and on about your ex.
