The freedom and democracy we now enjoy was earned through solidarity with other African countries.
Yet we have the audacity to vent our anger and frustration on fellow Africans.
It cannot be true that these people are taking jobs meant for South Africans. It cannot be true that the crime in our country is a result of their presence.
Unemployment and other related social problems are a direct result of capitalism.
Linked to this is our government's neo-liberal policies that are not responsive to the needs of our people.
The barbaric attacks unleashed on Africans need to be condemned by all of us. The attacks should be aimed at those who own the means of production and exploit these people by offering them lowly paid jobs.
These attacks are negating the contribution we should be making to Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and others for their selflessness during our struggle against apartheid.
We have a duty to live in peace and harmony with our brothers and sisters from the continent.
