Gordon "Yster" Gilbert, Mpumalanga Black Aces' rock solid defender, looks set to wear the popular black and white jersey of Orlando Pirates next season.

"I'm now a free agent after our last game today [against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final]," said Gilbert on Saturday.

Though he was reluctant to discuss names, Gilbert confirmed that several Premiership clubs wanted him to join them in the new season.

When asked specifically about Pirates, Gilbert said: "Yes, it is true that Pirates have approached me through another person that I know and trust very well.

"That person [Sowetan has the name of the said official] informed me that Pirates want me to play for them next season. At this stage, I have not spoken to anybody from Pirates.

"If there is any good offer from the PSL in the next few days, I will consider it because I feel that I'm ready to play in that division.

"I want to see myself playing in the Premiership next season. I know that Aces have also indicated that they want me to stay with the club.

"Now that the final is over, I will have a meeting with Aces in the next few days to discuss my future with the club."

Mario Morfu, Aces' co-director, said Gilbert was going nowhere.

"As far as I know, he is our player. I don't know anything about him going anywhere. We want to build a solid club to win promotion next season."

But our source informed us that it is a matter of time before Gilbert relocates to Johannesburg to sign for Pirates.
