This is the week that every African soccer enthusiast has been waiting for.

The African Soccer Television show screens its 400th episode, a milestone in local television, and this week we celebrate by going back down memory lane.

This week's show on SABC1 Sport's Laduma programme on Sunday features highlights from past episodes and some of the magical moments.

Among these is the 2006 Tusker Cup Final in which Kagera Sugar ended Simba SC's dominance with a 2-1 beating that saw Tanzania produce new faces in the CAF Confederations Cup competition.

Then there is the magical moment of the celebrations of 50 years of independence in Ghana and the Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona's African invasion.

Barcelona, with some of it's big name players including Samuel Eto'o, Deco and Ronaldinho, played against Egyptian and African giants Al Ahly in Cairo and South African Premiership bosses Mamelodi Sundowns in Tshwane.

A magical moment to savour, especially for the Nigerians, will surely be reliving the country's victory in the Fifa U-17 World Cup.

Since Orlando Pirates won the CAF Champions League back in 1995 there's always been a debate as to just how good southern African teams are in continental competition.

If the past two years are anything to go by, the title belongs in the north as the finals were contested by Al Ahly and CS Sfaxien in 2006, and Al Ahly and Etoile de Sahel last year.
