The mother of a young woman who was burnt to death inside her car by her boyfriend says she wants him to spend the rest of his life in jail.

Tankiso Daniel Mofokeng, 29, was on Wednesday jailed for 25 years by the Vereeniging circuit court after pleading guilty to the murder of 25-year-old Dimakatso Ngwadla.

Catherine Ngwadla told Sowetan yesterday: "The fact that he pleaded guilty to killing my daughter shows that he deserves to be sent to jail for the rest of his life. I fear that he will be released on parole and come to attack me."

Ngwadla said she would appeal the sentence.

Ngwadla's daughter, Dimakatso was killed by Mofokeng, who was her boyfriend at the time. Her charred remains were found inside her burnt-out car in the veld at De Deur in the Vaal on February 21.

"I am not satisfied with the sentence passed by the court. I am going to appeal it," said Ngwadla.

Mofokeng admitted to murdering Dimakatso during a quarrel on February 21 at Orange Farm. She was burnt beyond recognition and could only be identified with the help of the engine numbers of her car and the jewellery she was wearing.

The two lived together in a backyard room at Ngwadla's home in Orange Farm.
