Global business confidence in the 2010 World Cup continues to grow after a leading tyre manufactures, Continental, came on board as one of the partners.

The new partner was unveiled in Zurich yesterday by Sepp Blatter, Fifa president and Alan Hippe, member of the Continental AG executive board.

Continental has strong ties in South Africa, with a tyre production plant in Port Elizabeth with about 1 600 employees.

"We are delighted about this agreement and in particular about the fact that another global company, Continental, has put its trust in South Africa's ability to organise the 2010 Fifa World Cup," said Danny Jordaan, LOC chief executive.
