After tension and fear gripped the village of Modimolle in Limpopo for four years, the man suspected of having murdered and sexually abused more than 10 children has finally been arrested.

After the recent bungle in which they arrested the wrong person, who later had to be released for lack of evidence, we hope the police have got it right this time.

They should not raise peoples' hopes to be dashed later owing to a blunder.

Apparently the state will rely on forensic evidence to prove its case and the suspect has made a confession to a magistrate.

So far so good.

All the residents of Modimolle want now is justice so that they can close this tragic chapter.
